Time to celebrate?

Celebrate good times, come on! (Let's celebrate)
Celebrate good times, come on! (Let's celebrate)

There's a party goin' on right here
A celebration to last throughout the years
So bring your good times, and your laughter too
We gonna celebrate your party with you

Kool & The Gang had it right. There's a party going on. It may not always seem like it, but just look around.  There's always something to celebrate.

Perhaps you're the owner of a small retail store, with just a handful of employees. They're all working hard and through their efforts, you're now able to offer your merchandise online, too. Celebrate this victory and show these employees how much their contribution is appreciated. It doesn't have to be expensive or lavish. Something as simple as a T-shirt or pizza party speaks volumes, especially accompanied by your personal thanks.

As Tom Dorr, director of West Washington University's College of Business and Economics Small Business Development Center notes, "Small business owners don´t take enough time to celebrate the little victories that happen every day. This month make a commitment to yourself and to your company to celebrate and acknowledge the little victories in your business. Make it a game/challenge for the team to find something daily, weekly, quarterly to celebrate."

Examples of small victories might include gaining a new customer, meeting sales projections for the week (or month), finding a more efficient way to handle inventory, or receiving a compliment from a customer or vendor.

So... Come on... Get out there and celebrate, good times, tonight!
